What began as relentless rainfall in the mountains soon turned into a devastating flood that changed countless lives. In late August 2025, unusually heavy rains lashed the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, overwhelming the land and leaving rivers with nowhere to go. As the days passed, rising waters spilled beyond their banks, and by early September the Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, and Ghaggar rivers surged through communities, destroying homes, livelihoods, and a sense of safety. Families were forced to flee with little warning, carrying only what they could, as entire villages stood submerged—marking a heartbreaking chapter of loss and resilience for the region.
The scale of destruction left behind is staggering. Across Punjab, 1000s of villages spread over 22 to 23 districts were touched by the floods, turning everyday life upside down for thousands of families. Vast stretches of fertile farmland—once the backbone of local livelihoods—now lie underwater, with an estimated 1.9 to nearly 3 lakh acres submerged. Districts such as Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, and Amritsar have borne the heaviest burden, emerging as high-severity zones where communities continue to struggle with loss, uncertainty, and the long road to recovery.
Yet, even in the face of such overwhelming loss, the spirit of Punjab remained unbroken. Known for its courage and unwavering determination to rise through adversity, the people stood strong in the midst of this crisis. In solidarity with affected communities, Renewed Vision stepped forward to stand beside their brothers and sisters in need. Our teams reached some of the hardest-hit villages, carrying emergency relief supplies and a message of hope—assuring families that they were not alone in this difficult journey toward recovery.
